Fire resistant tent for a sustainable festival
September, 2013 + June, 2014
This tent is a result of a former course I had concerning sustainable materials. The task was to explore and research in the field of sustainable materials and develop an idea for some kind of camp with this new knowledge.
I always wanted to make my own tent so I started exploring for the possibility of making a tent in a fire-resistant material for the purpose of making it suitable for festivals. I developed a shape for the tent, which could give new possibilities in building up a camp with tents that could be connected to each other. The hole idea was that the tents should be rental tent that could be booked and arranged in camps when booking the festival ticket. During the projekt I made scale models to communicate the idea.
After the course ended I was lucky to able to continue with my burning desire for building my own tent. I got a collaboration partner, ROCKWOOL, who already was dealing with some residental huts at Roskilde Festival made with insulating materials.
The main material I worked with for my tent was a fabric bade from the volcanic stone, basalt. At last years Roskilde festival i made the first prototype of the tent in 1:1 and I stayed there for 3 days during the festival.
